LIVE WEBINAR! Tuesday July 8, at 7 PM CT

OVERVIEW:

“Conversations in Care - Complex Cases in Pain Management” is designed to enhance the competencies of healthcare clinicians in pain management and opioid prescribing. This advanced CO*RE training addresses the complexities of these areas, particularly for patients in different stages of opioid use disorders (OUD) with co-morbidities or serious illness. This education focuses on equipping healthcare professionals with advanced skills to assess and manage complex pain cases, create tailored pain management plans, and implement multimodal strategies to optimize patient outcomes. By integrating evidence-based approaches, motivational interviewing, hope theory, and collaborative care principles, participants will gain actionable insights to improve patient engagement, resilience, and overall quality of care. The series will consist of six one-hour conversational sessions per year, structured like "office hours," where participants can engage directly with experts in pain management and opioid prescribing. Each session will explore one case with two co-discussion leaders. These regularly scheduled sessions feature open discussions, Q&A opportunities, and updates from experts in this genre.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Assess and manage complex pain cases involving comorbidities by applying evidence-based approaches to pain management and opioid prescribing, while utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to improve patient engagement and facilitate shared decision-making
  • Develop individualized pain management plans that address each patient's unique needs, integrate principles of hope theory to foster the emotional resilience of your patients, and ensure alignment across the healthcare team to support positive health outcomes
  • Explore and apply multimodal pain management strategies, incorporating non-opioid and non-pharmacological options
