This activity addresses gaps in physician knowledge about healthcare advocacy and leadership. DO Day is the osteopathic profession's premier advocacy conference. Participants are likely aware of the need for legislative advocacy but may be less aware of the most effective ways to educate members of Congress on the healthcare issues that matter most to osteopathic physicians and their patients. As a result of past participation in this activity, physicians have been able to successfully protect a myriad of legislative priorities pertinent to the osteopathic medical profession, including debilitating Medicare physician payment cuts, expanding graduate medical education funding, and combating physician burnout.
- Explain at least one complex legislative issue (ie, surprise billing, medical student debt, etc.) and prospective or enacted solutions
- Describe effective strategies for communicating with lawmakers and how grassroots/social media can be used to influence legislative outcomes
- Summarize recent legislative or regulatory updates and how they could impact the practice of osteopathic medicine
Start Date: June 20, 2023
End Date: December 31, 2023
Cost: Members: $259 | Non-Members $599
